Baltimore residents don't need an income boost to keep up with rent, report says

The general rule of thumb is to not spend more than 30 percent of your income on housing. In the Baltimore area, rental rates are right on par — one of 11 U.S. cities where an income boost isn’t needed to keep up with escalating rents. The Zillow Rent Index for Baltimore in February was $1,720, showing an annual income increase of zero is needed to maintain the 30 percent threshold. Zillow forecasts the rent index in Baltimore will drop slightly to $1,705 in February 2018. The analysis comes…
