Maryland bank profits increase 18 percent in fourth quarter

Maryland banks saw profits rise 18 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016, in addition to growth in lending and deposits as economic conditions continue to improve. The state’s 54 federally insured banks reported a $348 million profit in the quarter, compared to $295 million the year before, according to data released Tuesday by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Baltimore bike share to add 30 stations in May

A planned expansion of Baltimore’s bike share will launch in May, increasing the number of rental stations and the amount of bikes available to riders. Baltimore will install an additional 30 stations, which will hold a combined 265 bikes. The new stations will bring the city’s total to 50, and the number of bikes available to 465.
