Maryland personal income growth slows in 2016, outpaces U.S. average

Marylanders saw personal income growth decline in 2016, but outpaced the national average. The state’s personal income totaled $348.6 billion last year, up 3.7 percent from $336.2 billion in 2015, according to data released Wednesday by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Nationally, personal income grew at 3.6 percent in 2016. The percentage increase among Marylanders ranks 18th in the U.S., up from No. 21 the year before.
