Year in Review 2017: State and local tourism numbers start to see a rebound

Baltimore’s tourism industry saw growth this year after a dip in visitors attributed to the 2015 unrest. Visit Baltimore officials announced in October that nearly 26 million people visited the city in 2016, a 2.8 percent increase over the year before. The industry was responsible for $5.6 billion in direct spending, yielding $705 million in city and state tax revenues and sustaining 85,000 jobs.
