University of Maryland receives $219.5M gift from Clark Foundation, largest in school's history

The University of Maryland will receive a $219.5 million donation from the A. James and Alice B. Clark Foundation created by the late contracting titan James Clark. The gift, announced Wednesday, is the largest in the school’s history and one of the largest investments in the history of American public higher education, said Wallace Loh, president of the University of Maryland. James Clark, a Maryland alum, built his Bethesda-based Clark Construction Group into one of the nation’s building powerhouses.…
