Maryland attorney general to sue, regulators eye options as Trump dumps ACA subsidies

Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh threatened to sue the Trump Administration after the president said he will not continue to pay federal subsidies that reduce the cost of consumer health plans under the Affordable Care Act. Trump said the cost-sharing reduction subsidies, which are paid by the federal government to insurance carriers to help lower the cost of co-payments and deductibles for some consumers, were essentially “payoffs” to the carriers.
