Baltimore-area GDP growth outpaces national average in 2016

Greater Baltimore’s economy grew faster in 2016 than the national average. New data from the U.S. Department of Commerce shows that between 2015 and 2016, the Baltimore area saw its gross domestic product grow by 2.4 percent. That’s larger than the national average of 1.7 percent. Greater Baltimore’s economy totaled $164.5 billion last year, the 19th largest in the U.S. The Baltimore-area ranked 119th among the 382 metropolitan areas surveyed by the Department of Commerce in year-over-year GDP…
