Hogan makes proposal to protect Marylanders affected by federal tax law

On the heels of a report showing Marylanders could have to pay close to $400 million more in state and local taxes as a result of last year’s federal tax overhaul, Gov. Larry Hogan announced proposed changes to mitigate the impact. Comptroller Peter Franchot’s staff has been reviewing the new federal tax law ever since Congressional Republicans and President Donald Trump passed it in December.
