Salvation Army to open first 'nonprofit' grocery store in Waverly

The city’s quest for new grocery stores is getting one step closer to reality — and it is a national model. DMG Foods is set to open next week at 400 E. 29th St. in Waverly as the first nonprofit market owned by the Salvation Army. The 7,000-square-foot store will be operated in partnership with the Maryland Food Bank and located in a long-vacant warehouse in Waverly. The Salvation Army purchased the site for $428,100 in 2015.
