As union membership holds steady in Maryland, all eyes turn to the Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments Monday in a closely watched case that has public-sector labor unions fearing for their survival.  In Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Council 31, the justices have been asked to determine whether public employees can be required to pay union fees, even if they are not union members. As it stands, 22 states allow for unions to charge membership dues to all employees covered by their labor contracts. Affected unions…
