Many of the children who play baseball on the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation’s community fields today never saw Cal Ripken Jr. play baseball. The Orioles great retired in 2001, so children in elementary and middle school never saw him come out and wave his cap during his final game, or make the lap around Camden Yards’ outfield when he played in his 2,131st consecutive game in 1995.
