Northrop Grumman Corp. has agreed to acquire Dulles-based Orbital ATK Inc. for $7.8 billion in cash, bringing two of the Washington, D.C. area’s largest public companies with some of the largest government contracts under one umbrella. Under the deal, global defense contracting giant Northrop (NYSE: NOC) will also assume $1.4 billion in net debt, while Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA) customers receive all-cash consideration of $134.50 per share.
