House of Ruth to expand into a second city location

Months shy of its 40th anniversary, the House of Ruth has purchased a two-story building in Charles Village to expand its services. The domestic violence nonprofit that has a shelter in Northeast Baltimore purchased a building at 2521 N. Charles St. last week for $1.4 million. The structure is a 16,000-square-foot brick building that was once a Baltimore Healthy Start program location and will be converted into a community center for the House of Ruth’s Training Institute.
