Maryland loses 5,500 jobs in June as unemployment holds steady

Maryland lost 5,500 jobs in June, many of which came from the public sector as colleges and universities let out for the summer, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics released Friday. Despite the losses, unemployment in the state held steady at 4.3 percent for the third month in a row.
