Wells Fargo taps BNY Mellon head as its new CEO

BNY Mellon Chairman and CEO Charles Scharf will become the next CEO of Wells Fargo. Scharf, 54, has run BNY Mellon (NYSE:BK), created through the 2007 merger of Bank of New York Corp. and Mellon Financial Corp., for the past two years. “Charlie has demonstrated a strong track record in initiating and leading change, driving results, strengthening operational risk and compliance, and innovating amid a rapidly evolving digital landscape,” Wells Fargo Board Chairwoman Betsy Duke said in a statement.
