Maryland gained 500 jobs in August, ending a three-month streak of losses, while the unemployment rate remain unchanged. A number of industries in the private sector added jobs during the month, but were offset by a loss of 4,600 jobs in the professional and business services industry, according to figures released Friday by the U.S. Department of Labor.
