Stieff Silver buildings sell to Johns Hopkins for $17.55M

The red brick Stieff Silver buildings off of Interstate 83 in Hampden have been purchased by Johns Hopkins University, a longtime tenant in the complex. The university on Wednesday closed on the $17.55 million deal, said Dennis O'Shea, Hopkins spokesman. Hopkins described the transaction as “making a highly visible symbol of the city’s manufacturing heritage formally a part of its future in the knowledge economy.” The Stieff Silver building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.…
