City Council President proposes retaking control of school system after $100M budget error

City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young said Wednesday he would like city leaders to consider taking full control of the school system after a recent audit found a $100 million error in the Baltimore City Public Schools’ budget. The audit, completed by accounting firm KPMG and presented at the Board of Estimates meeting Wednesday, found that more than $100 million worth of teacher pensions in fiscal year 2015 were put on the city’s budget, when they should have been paid for by the school…
