Questions raised about effectiveness of Gaithersburg-based MedImmune’s FluMist

The flu vaccine FluMist, which is made by Gaithersburg-based MedImmune Inc., is at the center of a new debate over vaccinations for the upcoming flu season. In June, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory committee recommended health providers not use the “nasal spray” flu vaccine produced by MedImmune, a subsidiary of U.K. pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE: AZN).
