Construction on new $40M Route 40 bridge over Gwynns Falls to begin in October

The city says it will begin work in the fall on the replacement of a 100-year-old vehicle bridge along Route 40 that runs above the Gwynns Falls and CSX train tracks. Construction will start in October on the new 500-foot Edmondson Avenue bridge. The stretch along Route 40 sits near the Western Cemetery in West Baltimore. The new bridge will be built adjacent to the existing structure, and will take about four to five years to complete, said Scott Weaver, the chief of the city’s bridge engineering…
