Maryland gained 2,500 jobs in May, lifted by a big increase in education and health services positions. The state’s unemployment rate decreased slightly to 4.5 percent, down from 4.6 percent in April, according to preliminary data released Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
