Most Gannett papers, including one in Maryland, are losing print circulation faster than average

Of the 200 daily newspapers at the newly merged Gannett Co. that file print circulation numbers publicly, more than 80% are losing circulation at a faster rate than the national average and 10% are declining at twice that rate or more, according to a Business Journal analysis. Locally, Gannett publishes The Daily Times in Salisbury, which lost about 40% of its circulation from 2017-2019. The paper had a print circulation of 9,049 in 2017, but that number dropped to 5,441 in 2019. See the attached…
