Maryland loses 5,500 jobs in October as the unemployment rate holds steady

Maryland lost 5,500 jobs in October, ending a streak of four consecutive months with job growth, according to data released Friday by the U.S. Department of Labor. Despite the loss of jobs, the state’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.8 percent. The trade, transportation and utilities sector lost 3,200 jobs, the most of any sector.
