Timeline: The looooooong search for a new FBI headquarters

The General Services Administration’s decision to pull the plug on its search for a consolidated FBI headquarters ends a more than five-year journey that dates back to 2011 — and it means the bureau will remain in its downtown D.C. site at the J. Edgar Hoover Building for the time being. The agency’s search saw its share of twists and turns as anticipation grew. Here, we take a look back at the process.
