M&T Bank survey: Small business owners cite labor, health care costs as most significant challenge

The cost of labor and health care is the most significant challenge for half of the small businesses that responded to a new M&T Bank survey. M&T’s Business Economic Outlook Survey shows that 50 percent of senior managers and owners of small businesses who participated in the internet survey identified labor, health care and other benefit costs as the most important challenge they face when compared to government regulations, business taxes or the process of hiring and retaining qualified workers.
