Amazon.com Inc. once again topped the list of U.S. company spending on research and development last year, according to FactSet Research Systems. Amazon increased its R&D spending by more than $6 billion over the previous year, bringing its 2017 total to $22.6 billion. Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc. ranked No. 2 last year with $16.6 billion in R&D spending, followed by Intel’s $13.1 billion. Microsoft ranked No. 4 in 2016 and 2017, spending $12.3 billion both years, according to FactSet.…
