Hogan begins $27M demolition of historic city jail by knocking down some of it himself

Gov. Larry Hogan kicked off a $27.5 million demolition of 39 buildings at the Baltimore City Correctional Complex on Thursday by doing the some of the work himself. Hogan took the controls of one of the machines and started tearing down one of the buildings at the complex located east of the Jones Falls Expressway, between Eager and Madison streets. The moment came four years after Hogan, a Republican, shutdown the Baltimore City Detention Center in 2015 because of what had been described as “deplorable"…
