Baltimore's summer jobs program receives 11,000 applications from youths

More than 8,300 teenagers will get a job through Baltimore City’s popular YouthWorks summer employment program this year. Jason Perkins-Cohen, director of the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development, said the city received more than 11,000 applications. That’s down from last year’s high of more than 16,000, but still more than the number of jobs available. City residents ages 14 to 21 will work for five hours a day for five weeks through the YouthWorks program. About 1,000 jobs will be provided…
