Lexington Market redo: 'Where will all the poor people go when you tear all this down?'

Can Lexington Market retain its historic status, low prices, food availability and vitality if it is rebuilt as a modern food hall? That was the central question Wednesday as about 130 gathered in a corridor at the downtown market for the first town hall meeting on a plan to raze and replace it. Front and center were questions about food costs, vendor leasing and whether gentrification of the historic downtown market would push some long-time businesses out.
