Bethesda-based LaSalle Hotel Properties has rejected a merger proposal made earlier this month by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust. Pebblebrook (NYSE: PEB), also headquartered in Bethesda, had written a March 6 letter to LaSalle (NYSE: LHO) requesting the fellow hospitality REIT consider a buyout that would “create the clear industry leader” that would “benefit the shareholders of both companies.” Pepplebrook sent a second letter, dated March 20, indicating it had not received a response to the offer…
