Maryland added 6,500 jobs in December, continuing a recent surge of growth in the state’s labor market. December was the fifth straight month Maryland added jobs. During the streak, 41,000 jobs have been added to Maryland’s economy, according to figures released Friday by the U.S. Department of Labor. The state’s unemployment rate also fell to 3.5% in December, a new low for unemployment in the past decade. Education and health services grew by 2,500 jobs in December, the most of any industry group.…
