As seasonal ‘mahogany tide’ algae dies off, 10,000 dead fish reported in Spa Creek and Buckingham Cove

This year’s bloom of the rusty-red algae Prorocentrum minimum was particularly intense and widespread in Maryland, and while environmental advocates are reporting that the “mahogany tide” is dying off, in two spots it that has caused thousands of fish to die.
