Initial standard unemployment claims in Maryland dropped slightly last week, continuing a six-week trend of declining filings. Figures released by the U.S. Department of Labor Thursday show 8,301 standard claims were filed for the week ending Aug. 15. That’s only a slight decrease from the prior week, after the number of Aug. 8 claims was revised upward by more than 1,200 to 8,892.
