Initial standard unemployment claims in Maryland decreased for the fourth week in a row last week, dipping below 10,000 for the first time since the pandemic began. The 9,762 new filings for the week ending Aug. 1 are the lowest number of weekly claims filed in the state since mid-March, according to figures released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Labor.
