Cautiously, some patients are returning to hospitals to finally get that knee replacement. Others remain wary of elective surgeries.

The decline in the number of patients undergoing elective surgery during the coronavirus pandemic has been severe, straining the finances of the health system and possibly creating a large backlog of people in need of treatment.
