Maryland unemployment claims hit their lowest level since pandemic began

Maryland unemployment claims continued to drop last week, hitting their lowest level since the coronavirus pandemic began in early March. New data released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Labor show 34,304 Marylanders filed standard unemployment claims for the week ending May 16, a decrease of 11,181 claims from the prior week’s revised figure of 45,485.
