Maryland businesses approved for $6.54B in loans in first round of PPP

More than 26,000 small business relief loans were authorized by Maryland totaling $6.54 billion when the federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program ran out of money. Data from the Small Business Administration on Friday showed that as of 12 p.m. on April 16, the agency approved 26,068 loans in Maryland. The $349 billion PPP ran out of money later that day, 13 days after its launch. Nationally, the SBA authorized 1.67 million loans totaling $342.3 billion through 4,975 lenders. Maryland ranked…
