Editor's Notebook: Why didn't I pay attention in home ec class?

Visions of ninth-grade home economics class are swirling in my head as the coronavirus pandemic quarantine stretches into April. Why didn’t I ever learn to sew? I know Miss Campbell at Paxon Hollow Junior High School tried to teach me that skill. Yet I labored through making an A-line skirt (my teenage self never wore it) and a giant bag of stuffed, felt french fries. The hamburger pattern looked way too hard, especially the faux sesame seeds. I did learn how to make an ooey, gooey cheesy bread…
