For 10 years national healthcare spending has mushroomed, growing 4.6 percent in 2018 to reach $3.6 trillion – or $11,172 per person. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which tracks U.S. healthcare spending, predicts 2019 will reflect another rise – to $11,559 per person, and in 2020 will reach $12,087 per person.
