Deal in place to widen I-270, build new Legion Bridge. But toll lanes on much of the Beltway will wait.

Maryland will pursue express toll lanes from the American Legion Bridge and up Interstate 270 but will hold off on the widening Gov. Larry Hogan wanted for most of the Capital Beltway. This according to an agreement announced Friday between Hogan, a Republican, and Comptroller Peter Franchot, a Democrat. The state and its private partners will build toll lanes from a new Legion Bridge onto I-270 and then to I-370 near the Shady Grove Metro station, according to Franchot’s post on social media. But…
