The law making it possible for the proposed Guinness brewing facility and taproom in Baltimore County to move forward went into effect Saturday, along with an assortment of other legislation. Clyde’s Restaurant Group is transforming the longtime Tomato Palace in downtown Columbia into a live entertainment venue and restaurant. The Tomato Palace, a 24-year-old mainstay on Lake Kittamaqundi, served its last plate of pasta Tuesday. The transformation will begin immediately, said Tom Meyer, president of Clyde’s. Baby boomers are being too conservative with their investment strategies and are not saving enough money for retirement, according to a recent Legg Mason Inc. study. The study found that baby boomers that invest in defined-contribution plans, like a 401(k), have an average of $263,000 saved, less than half of the $658,000 they say they will need for retirement.
