A new $8 million University of Maryland, Baltimore community engagement center will soon greet residents of West Baltimore. The 20,000-square-foot center broke ground this week inside a historic building at 16 S. Poppleton St., that was once part of the St. Peter’s Church complex and was most recently a drug and alcohol residential treatment center.
