Spending at Maryland national parks continues to decline

Visitor spending in the communities closest to Maryland’s national parks was down in 2018, reaching its lowest point in at least the past six years. A total of $203 million was spent last year by six million visitors in the areas around parks such as Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Assateague Island National Seashore and more.
