Bill to expand Maryland sales tax dies, another remains on the table

Maryland lawmakers voted to reject a controversial proposal to expand the state’s sales and use tax to services on Wednesday night but some business owners who may have been affected cannot rest easy yet. Business owners and industry advocacy organizations descended upon Annapolis earlier this week to oppose two bills that would expand Maryland’s sales tax, which currently is applied to goods and 13 specific services.
