Maryland startups raise $226 million in Q2, up 180% from slow Q1

Maryland companies raised $226 million in venture capital funding during the second quarter, according to a PwC/CB Insights MoneyTree Report released Tuesday. It was a substantial rebound after a markedly slow Q1. The statewide quarterly funding was raised through 21 separate deals. About $42 million of that was raised by companies based in Greater Baltimore, through 10 deals. Most of the largest rounds raised in this quarter were concentrated in the Montgomery County area.
