More than 1 million Marylanders will travel for the long July 4 weekend, setting a new record for the Independence Day holiday. The estimate is up 3.8 percent from 995,300 in 2018, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic. Nearly 900,000 Marylanders, or 87 percent, traveling for the holiday will do via automobile.
