Maryland insurance chief scouts for new carriers to join health care marketplace

Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer has made calls to eight out-of-state health insurance carriers, trying to convince them to sell coverage in the state. Any market benefits from greater competition. More carriers operating in the state’s health insurance market, means greater options and more competitive prices for Maryland consumers, Redmer said.
