Sinclair's David Smith to step down as CEO

David Smith, who built Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. into the largest owner of television stations in the U.S., will step down as CEO of the company in January after 28 years. Smith, 65, will become executive chairman. Chris Ripley, the Hunt Valley-based broadcaster’s CFO since 2014, will become CEO. Lucy Rutishauser, senior vice president of corporate finance and treasurer, will move into the CFO role. Smith helped found Sinclair (NASDAQ: SBGI) in 1986 and has seen it grow into a $2.2 billion…
