Johns Hopkins University spent $2.4 billion on research and development projects in 2016, leading all U.S. universities in R&D expenditures for the 38th consecutive year. Hopkins’ R&D spending in fiscal year 2016 was up 5.4 percent from fiscal 2015, according to annual reporting from the National Science Foundation.
