About 834,000 Marylanders are expected to travel this weekend for Memorial Day, a 2.3 percent increase from last year and the highest figure for the holiday weekend since 2005. This year’s projections from AAA Mid-Atlantic marks the sixth consecutive year of growth over the Memorial Day holiday. AAA defines the travel period as being between Thursday, May 25 and Monday, May 29.
